adidas Galaxy 7

These shoes look good. For only 60 bucks, you get kicks that shine like a high-end model. Moreover, some of their characteristics are also at a very high level. However, they feature a lot of drawbacks, which might suggest some runners to avoid these shoes.

Their main advantage is stability. These shoes offer a high level of support thanks to their wide base and high sidewalls. Your heel feels exceptionally supported with no room to wobble.

Additionally, the foam is quite firm, which further elevate stability.

This combination is excellent for new runners or those with leg issues, making them ideal for starting a running journey or for everyday wear, ensuring minimal fatigue after a long day at work.

Their biggest issue is ventilation. The mesh is quite thick and doesn’t provide sufficient breathability. While this is beneficial in colder weather, it can be problematic during running or for daily wear indoors. You may experience increased sweating and odor.

If you don’t mind the lack of breathability, the comfort level in these shoes is excellent. They feature a very puffy heel collar and a plush tongue. These elements provide a soft feel for your foot. Additionally, the glued-in Ortholite insole enhances comfort even further. So, if your feet don’t require much ventilation, these shoes are a great choice for daily wear.

Another challenging point is lockdown. The shoes feature a large, rigid heel counter, extra lockdown elements on the sides, and additional lace holes for a secure fit. These three elements enhance lockdown, but the front of the shoe lacks reinforcements. Sometimes your forefoot feels loose. I do not like this feeling and would rather recommend that runners with narrow fit stay away from these shoes. While wide fit runners won’t feel any issue here.

The cushioning in these shoes is great. Although they appear to have a significant stack height, this impression is somewhat misleading. Much of the foam is concentrated in the sidewalls.

The shoes can comfortably handle most runners and are suitable for long runs. However, heavier runners might want to consider models with even more cushioning.

Transition in these shoes is a bit not smooth. I am pretty happy how they transfer from heel to forefoot, but it is definitely do not feel efficient. It guarantees stability, but does not feel like appropriate enough for running. Some other models with proper rocker provide much better feeling.

Bounce is unfortunately lacking in these shoes. To maintain a low price point, Adidas uses a simple foam material that doesn’t provide much propulsion. These shoes are not designed for races or setting records.

Finally, these shoes feature a decent rubber outsole that provides good grip on pavement and city trails. As with other simple materials, you get a high level of durability. Since they lack bounce features from the start, there's nothing to lose in that regard.

Overall, this is a very interesting model with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. I would recommend these shoes to beginners, as they offer a safe entry into running. However, as you start to run faster or more frequently, the lack of breathability and propulsion becomes a limitation.
